September 26 - False Claims Act - A Scary Blast from the Past for Importers and Exporters: The False Claims Act (FCA) is an American federal law that imposes liability on persons and companies who defraud governmental programs. It is the federal government's primary litigation tool in combating fraud against the government. Importers and exporters must be aware of the FCA. Employees and anyone else knowledgeable of company’s wrongdoings can “whistle blow” and be rewarded. This webinar will put importers and exporters on notice of what can go wrong, how they can be penalized and even lose their businesses, and how to prevent disasters.
October 24 (Part 1) and November 9 (Part 2) - The Basics of Importing Goods Into the U.S.: Importing into the United States is a complicated process. There are many things an importer must consider and really understand before importing items into the U.S. Any shipment of imported goods is subject to import laws and regulations, duty, taxes, and fees. Release of the imported items is determined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and perhaps other U.S. federal government agencies (FDA, USDA, CPSC, etc.). These two webinars will address the details of what every importer, whether novice or veteran, needs to know before importing. You will also learn the things needed to import, stay out of trouble, and make money.
